Shaw Butte Project

After another successful effort last month at Shaw Butte, the Phoenix Weedwackers will continue working at the same location this Saturday November 8. We will be at 19th Ave. and Cactus, on the east side. This is the west side of Shaw Butte. We will be staging northeast of Mings restaurant. There is a 100 yard hike to the area from where the vehicles are parked. I have been asked to emphasize that there will be no restrooms available!
The parking will be south of Cactus (about 50 yards south of Cactus) on the east side, behind "Mings" restaurant. We will have signs out. Please note that the hours for November-March are 8am to 11am.


I encourage you to bring water, although the park will have some. Gatorade and snacks are also a good idea. Good shoes are a must!
We had a small turnout in October, with 8 volunteers successfully removing 35 big bags of buffelgrass from this area!
Looking ahead, December is our 2 year anniversary and we will re-visit the Piestewa Peak trailhead area, plan the next year's events and have a party!
